Award Information
The Surgical Infection Society (SIS) Multicenter Study Awards (formerly the SIS Multicenter Study Initiative) is established to facilitate the creation and execution of multicenter studies across the membership of the SIS. Approved studies are considered endorsed by the Surgical Infection Society.
The purpose of this initiative is to encourage collaborative multicenter investigation. In this capacity, the SIS aims to facilitate investigator-initiated collaborative efforts across centers.
Award Acceptance: Award winners will be notified at the SIS Annual Meeting Awards Banquet in May, 2025. The funding period will begin July 1, 2025.
The award recipient will be expected to provide a summary of the completed research plan at a special session of the SIS Annual Meeting at the conclusion of the award period.

Eligibility and Criteria
Study protocols will be evaluated and reviewed by the SIS Scientific Studies Committee.
Approved studies will be given dedicated time at the following Annual SIS meeting to formally outline their research goals and seek participants from within the SIS membership. The SIS Scientific Studies Committee will provide additional help identifying potential site participants and advertisement within the membership as needed (mass email to membership, etc.). Approved studies are strongly encouraged to use the free online REDCap database management and collection system (https://projectredcap.org).
Completed studies will discuss their findings at the Annual SIS meeting. Those studies that reach publication will include the heading "SIS Multicenter Study" in the title or subtitle. Manuscripts will be published in Surgical Infections.
Application Requirements
- Each submission must have a mentor who is a member of the North American Surgical Infection Society.
- Non-members are welcome to apply but will be required to join the SIS if selected.
- Residents and Fellows in training may apply but must have a faculty mentor as the Primary Investigator at the primary site that will be responsible for ensuring the project is completed.
- Primary Investigator must be an SIS member (or join the SIS if application is accepted).
- The topic must be deemed within the purview of the Surgical Infection Society. Special consideration will be given to those projects that directly address the stated research goals of the SIS. (PMID: 34357820) https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/34357820/

- All applications will need to have representation present in person at the 2025 Annual Meeting.
